Nantes, France (February 2021) – A Spectra Geospatial SP90m GNSS receiver provided precise boat position and heading information for the Maître Coq IV, the winning boat of the ninth quadrennial Vendée Globe round the world sailing race without stopover. The Maître Coq IV, skippered by Yannick Bestaven, beat a field of thirty-three competing 60-foot monohull foiling sailboats.

In one of the closest finishes in race history, the Maître Coq IV of Bestaven completed the 24,000 mile trip in 80 days 3 hours 44 minutes 46 seconds, two hours before the second. An extreme endurance test for sailor, boat and equipment, the Vendée Globe is widely regarded as the ultimate challenge in ocean racing.

The race started on November 8, 2020 in Les Sables-d’Olonne in the Vendée department in France and ended there on January 28, 2021. The competitors sailed without assistance in a non-stop world tour of Les Sables-d ‘Olonne south of the Atlantic Ocean. to the Cape of Good Hope, then east into the Southern Ocean clockwise around Antarctica, keeping Australia’s Cape Leeuwin and Cape Horn of Australia to the left. South America ; then return north in the Atlantic to finish in Sables-d’Olonne.
