Dubai: The Port of Dubai welcomed its first passenger cruise ship AIDAbella on Thursday with 1,200 passengers and 600 crew on board. This marks the start of the Dubai Port cruise season and the official debut of the region’s largest twin cruise terminal hub in the east.
Dubai is expected to accommodate 126 ship calls and more than 500,000 cruise passengers in 2022. More than 150,000 passengers are expected to visit the Port of Dubai cruise terminal in its first season.
âThis marks the start of a new era for the UAE cruise industry and further elevates the Port of Dubai’s position as an extraordinary maritime district in the region,â said Abdulla Binhabtoor, Managing Director of portfolio, Shamal Holding.
The terminals provide streamlined immigration and customs control processes, and dedicated passenger and crew access routes, facilitated by the seaport’s passenger boarding bridges, allow uninterrupted flow between the ship. and the terminal. “We are delighted to bring AIDAbella, the ninth ship back into service, offering our clients voyages to the Orient in the winter of 2021-2022 and in particular to the Dubai Port Cruise Terminal,” said Felix Eichhorn, President of ‘AIDA Cruises.
AIDA is the German cruise market leader and operates 13 cruise ships, including the very first LNG-powered cruise ship built.
