Tyler, the Creator dropped a new video for his song “Lemonhead” on Thursday (July 8th) and he’s sure to disappoint with his goofy visuals in which he appears as his alter ego Wolf Haley.
The video is less than two minutes long and begins with Tyler speaking briefly about his elderly tuba player. “Mr. Bobo was a very talented person, but I don’t think I was trying my best to express what I wanted. I know the tuba was too heavy for him, but I needed to do this shit,” he said.
Tyler shows Mr. Bobo how to play the instrument, eventually starting the track. The video then cuts to Tyler cruising on a speedboat, cruising through a mountainous field while punching his heart out before jumping out with his briefcase. For some fans, the setting may be familiar; it looks like his recent iconic BET Awards performance in which he drove a retro car before driving off with his luggage.
Later in the video, Tyler is surrounded by parked pastel cars that match his sleek haircut. The video ends with him on a penny bike, away from the view of the camera.
“Lemonhead” is the third track from his latest studio album Call me if you get lost, released on June 25, and also the third song to receive a visual treatment after “Corso”. The album debuted at No. 1 at Billboard Ranking top 200 albums with 140.1 million song streams, beating Doja Cat’s debut album planet she. Tyler also bumped Doja into the No. 1 ranking on both Billboard Table Artist 100 and the rolling stone Table of 500 artists.
Tyler’s previous LP, igorsimilarly opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums when it was released two years ago. Prior to that, he released four studio albums, each of which charted in the Top 5.
