The Speedboat Killer: The Murder of Charlotte Brown

Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd has been moved to a notorious prison nicknamed “monster mansion”.

He is now being held at the HMP Frankland Category A prison, alongside evil criminals such as Soham murderer Ian Huntley, serial killer Levi Bellfield and the killer of Sarah Everard, ex-cop Wayne Couzens.

A source said Shepherd, whose story was the subject of an ITV drama last month, was keeping his head down in Co Durhan prison.

The source said: ‘He spends his days writing to friends and family and getting along with the other inmates.

“Prison was a humiliating experience for him.”

Former web designer Shepherd, 33, is serving a six-year sentence for causing the grossly negligent manslaughter of Charlotte Brown, 24, in December 2015, and a separate four-year term for attacking a barman.

He and Charlotte, who met via dating site OkCupid, dined at The Shard in London on a first date before Shepherd offered him a ride on his faulty speedboat.

Charlotte, from Clacton, Essex, drowned after being thrown from the boat when it hit a log.

Shepherd fled to Georgia and missed his trial but was extradited.

He had settled with former television journalist Maiko Chanturidze in the former Soviet republic.

He hopes they will be reunited there when he becomes eligible for release in two years.

Our source said, “Jack still misses Maiko and Georgia dearly.

“He thinks it will probably be a more welcoming home for him than Britain.”
