Seabourn sets new date for Venture’s maiden voyage

Seabourn has revised the date for the first voyage of its new luxury expedition vessel, the Seabourn Venture. The ship will now depart on its maiden voyage from Greenwich (London), England, on April 10, 2022.

The ship was originally scheduled to enter service in July 2021, but the pandemic has caused delays at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Genoa, Italy. Then it was planned to start sailing in December 2021.

Last month, a group of company executives visited the shipyard and received a detailed update on the vessel’s progress over the past 18 months.

“We had the opportunity to visit Seabourn Venture at the T. Mariotti Shipyard and were amazed by the design and beauty of the vessel,” said Seabourn President Josh Leibowitz. “The ship will now be launched in time for the inaugural summer season at the North Pole in 2022.”

Passengers currently booked on Seabourn Venture trips scheduled to depart between December 11, 2021 and April 24, 2022 will receive more details by August 10 on cancellations specific to their reservations. The ship will make two new routes across the UK, including the maiden voyage from London, and those voyages go on sale August 19, 2021.

The sister expedition vessel, which has yet to be named, is also under construction at T. Mariotti. Both ships will be designed and built for diverse environments to Polar Class PC6 standards and will carry two bespoke submarines, 24 Zodiacs, kayaks and an expert expedition team of 26 people.
