(3:38 p.m. EDT) Luxury cruise line Seabourn announced Monday it will name its second purpose-built polar expedition ship Seabourn Pursuit.
The 264-passenger ship will join the Seabourn fleet in February 2023 and make its maiden voyage to Iceland and Greenland on April 4, 2023. A transit of the Northwest Passage is planned for later this year.
Seabourn Pursuit is a sister ship to the Seabourn Venture designed by Adam Tihany, whose construction has been delayed due to the ongoing global pandemic and is now slated to debut in March 2022.
Seabourn Venture and the all-new Seabourn Pursuit focus on the experiences of the Ventures by Seabourn line, with passengers led by a 26-person expedition team on free tours aboard 24 inflatable zodiacs, as well as outings optional on the ship’s fleet of kayaks. Both ships are also equipped with a six-person submarine for underwater exploration.

Among the ship’s features are all-suite accommodations, each with a veranda. Guests receive freebies such as a welcome bottle of champagne and an in-suite bar catered to their preferences. Ships will operate with an open deck and open bar policy.

Seabourn did not disclose details of the dining locations on Seabourn Pursuit, but on Seabourn Venture they include family-style menus crafted by Michelin-starred chef Thomas Keller (of French Laundry fame) in the casual restaurant at the ship, The Colonnade, and sushi served in The Club.
The onboard spa and wellness program will feature experiences created with Seabourn’s partner and wellness guru, Dr. Andrew Weil.
In addition to a spring and summer list of crossings in Iceland, Greenland and Norway, Seabourn Pursuit will embark on a voyage through the Northwest Passage in August 2023, transiting the entire region between Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, and Nome, in Alaska.
The inaugural season will open for sale in mid-December 2021. Seabourn Pursuit is currently under construction in San Giorgo di Nogare, Italy.
