Saga’s new river cruise ship, Spirit of the Rhine, has departed Trier on its inaugural 13-night cruise and will pass through the Moselle Valley and Roman wine towns such as Bernkastel, Traben-Trarbach and Piesport.

The design of the new ship was inspired by the culture and nature found along the Rhine, Saga said. Guests will have access to a range of onboard facilities including a panoramic lounge and bar, library, fitness area, expansive sun deck with hot tub and outdoor barbecue, and two restaurants .

Designed as a sister ship, the Spirit of the Danube will reflect much of the design of the Spirit of the Rhine, with a design inspired by the views of the Danube.
