Azura returned to the high seas today as P&O Cruises continues to stagger the resumption of cruising.

He left Bridgetown, Barbados today, and will sail the Caribbean, visiting popular destinations such as Curacao and Tortola on a 13-day trip.

The family-friendly P&O cruise ship typically departs from Barbados and Valletta to Malta on this side of the Atlantic, sailing the Caribbean, Baltic, and Mediterranean.

Azura, which first entered service in April 2010, has a lot to offer its 3,100 guests – so what can passengers expect on board the ship, from cabins to meals to entertainment ?

Azura cabins

Azura offers a wide range of cabins for all travelers, from solos to couples to families.

There are 1,557 cabins on board, including 434 inside, 195 with sea view, 700 with balcony, 182 with deluxe upper balcony, 26 suites, 18 single cabins and two family cabins.

Depending on the type and location of the cabin, the balconies on the P&O cruise ship vary in size from 4 to 26 square meters.

Azura dinner

The ship has 10 restaurants, including the Peninsular Restaurant and The Glass House, perfect for wine lovers with award-winning wine expert Olly Smith and P&O Cruises Food Hero at the helm.

Expect wine pairings and small platters (think king prawns tempura, Thai beef salad, and smoked wild mushroom pate) as well as a range of main dishes including steaks, side dishes fish and vegetarian options.

There’s also The Epicurean, which offers the best of modern British cuisine. Here you will enjoy table-prepared meals in extravagant performances.

Menu options include entrees such as seared scallops and scallop tartare and 24-hour simmered beef cheek, while main courses include black cod and cold-water Canadian lobster tail with an Avruga caviar gratin, an Emmental cheese soufflé and a maple glazed pork T-bone. On the dessert side, we find delicacies such as the Belgian chocolate jaffa cake and the lemon meringue pie.

Other specialty restaurants are Sindhu, which offers authentic Indian cuisine, and The Beach House, which serves dishes inspired by cuisines from South America, the Caribbean and the United States. Savor steaks, ribs, grilled meats and burgers, hanging kebabs and a range of dishes to share.

For more casual options, there are two buffet restaurants and the poolside grill, serving burgers, hot dogs, and more.

Freedom or Club meals are available aboard Azura at the Peninsular, Oriental and Meridian restaurants.

There are also 13 bars and cafes.

Azura Entertainment

There is something to keep everyone on board Azura, whether you are looking for a spectacular show or looking for a quiet corner with a good book.

Here are some of the options on board:

The Playhouse Theater – an 800-seat two-level theater featuring everything from cabaret shows, stand-up comedies and interactive games to quizzes, aerial acrobatics and talent shows.

SeaScreen open-air cinema – the projection of a variety of classic and family films over the swimming pool.

Brodie’s – a classic British pub serving UK and international bottled beers, ciders and real ale as well as traditional bar snacks such as pork gratins, peanuts and crisps. Expect live quizzes and sports, live entertainment, karaoke, and game shows.

Malabar – an exotic bar inspired by contemporary hotels in Marine Drive, Mumbai. Entertainment ranges from piano recitals and cabaret to bands and dancing.

Manhattan Trade Show – a classic New York-inspired entertainment lounge. Expect cabaret shows, quizzes, tributes, family shows, and nightclubs.

Guests can also enjoy an onboard library and art gallery in the three-deck atrium

There are also stores where you can buy luxury branded items such as jewelry, gifts, clothing, accessories, cosmetics and perfumes, as well as vacation essentials, photographic products and services, satellite internet packages, shore experiences, art and collectibles.

Age-appropriate children’s clubs can be found on board to keep the little ones entertained – and to give adults some alone time!
