The newest Celebrity cruise ship, Celebrity summit, who just started sailing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was officially named on board in a traditional christening ceremony.

During a ceremony aboard the new Celebrity summit, the ship was eventually named after the ship moved away from its new home port in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
It’s been a long wait because Celebrity summit Originally slated to debut in 2020, but now finally godmother Reshma Saujani, the inspirational founder of Girls Who’s Groundbreaking Code and Marshall Plan for Moms and bestselling author, “Brave, Not Perfect,” has christened vessel.
Also in attendance at the event were Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises, and Richard Fain, President of the Royal Caribbean Group, and hundreds of guests including local dignitaries, media and influencers, during an official baptismal ceremony.

Godmother Reshma Saujani will be more involved with the cruise line than just naming the new ship. She will collaborate to deliver Girls Who Code at Sea, an educational coding program, as part of the brand’s STEM Camp at Sea experiences on board. Celebrity summit and Celebrity edge.
The christening ceremony comes as the Celebrity cruise ship begins its inaugural Caribbean season from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The ship departed on November 2 on a special two-night trip to celebrate the second Edge-class ship.

The new deployment comes after the ship completed its crossing of the Greek Islands from Athens last summer and became one of the first ships to restart operations in Europe. Celebrity summit will now offer Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises starting November 4. Cruises will include stops in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Belize, and more.
