NEWLY married couples using a local hotel to get married arrive on their big day in style.

The Alona Hotel, located in Strathclyde Country Park, has launched a new mode of transportation for newlyweds getting married on location.

Much like a Bond movie, the groom and groomsman, or the bride and bridesmaids, can now arrive at the hotel for the wedding ceremony in a speedboat.

Iain Donnachie, General Manager of Alona Hotel, said: “More and more couples are looking for that special thing that makes their wedding different and the ability to arrive in a speed boat certainly does. We are fortunate to have such a fantastic environment on our doorstep and for summer weddings this is a great addition to the Prefect’s Day.

“We had a great response to the idea, especially from the bride and groom, and we always go out of our way to make sure that there are no rough waters for any of our couples. . It’s a little fun and helps relax last minute nerves before the big occasion.
