WILLEMSTAD – Harmony of the Seas, the cruise ship of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (RCCL), visited Curaçao for the first time on Thursday, November 17, with a total of 5,505 cruise passengers on board.
As this was the first time this cruise ship had called at Curacao, Curacao Ports Authority (CPA), with Ms Zuleika Mook representing the Minister of Economic Development, the ship’s agent Maduro Shipping and the The Curaçao Tourist Board was invited on board for an inaugural ceremony. In addition to the ship’s captain, Ms Mook and CPA addressed those present in which reference was made to the importance of the cruise industry to Curacao. This concluded with an exchange of plates.
Ms. Mook also informed that the Allure of the Seas ship is the first of the Oasis class, which visited Curacao last May, regularly achieves a passenger occupancy rate of 90%, and even exceeds it. The performance of the arrival of these types of ships is excellent and Curaçao is now ready for more Oasis class ships.
Ms. Mook also explained that continuous efforts are being made to improve our port and ensure passengers have a memorable experience here. CPA will therefore invest again in the cruise terminal in 2023.
