Falmouth Stakes Advice: Journey Home Inspired in Newmarket

0

All eyes will be on superstar filly Inspiral at Newmarket on Friday as Frankel’s unbeaten daughter will look to claim six out of six wins when she lines up in the five-runner Falmouth Stakes, and she is an all-around favourite. for the Group 1 price…

Speculation is rife as to whether Frankie Dettori would partner John & Thady Gosden, formed after their public tete-a-tete, but the enigmatic Italian will be on board. Inspired who produced an absolutely stunning performance in her seasonal reappearance in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot a few weeks ago, and a repeat of that effort would see her roll to victory here.

The two-year-old star missed the start of this season, but made her long-awaited return to the track at the reunion royal in mid-June, and she has accelerated in stunning fashion to tie in a four and three-quarter length victory in the crowning glory, and she is a poor 2/7 favorite to clinch this award. A winner at Newmarket on her debut, she showed she excels at Flat HQ when she took victory in the Fillies’ Mile at the end of last season, and she’ll be bidding for the treble on Friday and it’s tough to see her beaten here.

Far and away the best filly of the crowning glory, she will face some notable rivals here but none of them equal her for her record to date and Dettori could well march to victory on the bridle once more here.

The remaining foursome are all available at double-digit odds and the only contender to line up on the back of a win is the French-trained raider. Sibila Spain, who was last seen winning a Group 2 prize at Saint-Cloud. Frankel’s filly relished the mild conditions that day but will face much faster ground on Friday and although she is allowed to have a crack here on her first visit to British shores, she might face this.

A runner who might give Inspiral some thought is that of Ralph Beckett PROSPEROUS JOURNEY, who failed to land any kind of hit when she was 10th in the Coronation Stakes, but she holds excellent form in Newmarket, and she could be the value game at 16/1. Second by two and a half lengths behind Inspiral in the Fillies’ Mile at the end of last season, Zoffany’s daughter went on to set a career best when she was second in the 1000 Guineas at the start of this season, and a repeat of that should see her play a role here. Obviously, she’s got a lot to find with Inspiral and realistically can’t topple the coronation form, but she’s a classy performer at Flat HQ and she just might fill the forecast.

Winner of the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes on this card 12 months ago, Richard Hannon’s Sandrine failed to kick off that victory and the former Albany Stakes winner could only finish fifth in the 1000 Guineas, despite being seventh in the Coronation Stakes last month. Still, to show any real spark this season, she’ll have to recapture her early career to play a role, and you can’t come back here with confidence.

Completing the line-up is Primo Bacio, which is another who has been boiling lately and will find it difficult. An eye-catching Listed winner at York last season, Ed Walker’s four-year-old failed to start and with weight to give his younger rivals here, the third Duke of Cambridge will struggle to carry any shot and she can finish the frame.
