A new mode of transport has been introduced for those getting married in a Lanarkshire hotel.
Reminiscent of a James Bond movie, the groom and groomsman, or bride and bridesmaids, can now arrive at the Alona Hotel, Motherwell, in style – in a speedboat!
There are two boats available for hire, which are provided by Strathclyde Country Park, and can accommodate a procession of two up to 12 people. A jetty is available at the water sports complex and outside the Alona Hotel.

Iain Donnachie, General Manager of the Alona Hotel said Lanarkshire Live : “More and more couples are looking for that special thing that makes their marriage different and the ability to arrive in a fast boat certainly does.
“We are fortunate to have such a great environment on our doorstep and for summer weddings this is a great addition to the Prefect’s Day.

“We had a great response to the idea, especially from the bride and groom, and we always go out of our way to make sure that there are no rough waters for any of our couples. . It’s a little fun and helps relax last minute nerves before the big occasion. “
The hotel is organizing an open day for the wedding this Sunday July 18, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
