BANGKOK, May 10, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — To celebrate the university’s 105th anniversary, President Chula announced the success of the “Speedboat Strategy” to steer Chula through an unstable world to drive social innovations, focusing on being a research university that teaches, revising curricula, and strengthening graduates’ skills for the future.
Professor Dr. Bundhit Eua-arporn, President Chula specify the “Outboard Strategy” and Chula’s vision for the future under his leadership saying that “I defined a vision of Innovations for society as the core of our university administration to harness knowledge and wisdom to improve society, in line with our motto ‘when society is troubled, Chula has the solutions‘.“
“We have to split into smaller boats to do new things, which requires new people. In addition, we also need to build a new work team consisting of agile people with a positive attitude who can seek new opportunities in different directions and environments to deliver quality work that benefits society.”
In recent years, many Chula “speedboats” have pioneered new waters and “disrupted” society. Innovation Center (iHub), for example, which has incubated more than 300 start-ups whose portfolios have generated nearly 17 billion baht stock market valuation; the BaScii program which has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (SCET) of University of CaliforniaBerkeley granting Chula students the opportunity to learn innovative startup procedures in Silicon Valley (Boot camp, Silicon Valley Innovation Leadership Program); Corporate UC (CUE) which supports startups in Chula by raising funds for innovations that benefit the country; and Diploma Plus Programan open education platform that promotes “Online with Human Touch” education for the general public.
The main product of the university is its “people”. Chula focuses on creating future leaders who put themselves at the service of society. “Apart from academic knowledge, Chula students should be cultured to acquire the skills to solve complex problems and be well-endowed with good characteristics to manage and live in a fast-paced, challenging, creative and ready-to-use world.“
