Breathtaking: Gargantuan shark makes students scream on sailboat

A breathtakingly sized shark cruising aboard a sailboat off the east coast provided students at sea with the thrill of a lifetime.

Student Alex Albrecht filmed the creature on the rig of the SSV Corwith Cramer and posted it on TikTok on Tuesday. The video had been viewed more than 50 million times on Thursday.

Albrecht spotted the creature by making a Association for sea education marine biodiversity program on the ship, which sailed from Florida to Woods Hole, Massachusetts.

“I sailed six weeks in the Atlantic and saw this big fucking shark,” Albrecht wrote in the video caption.

Others in the movie can be heard screaming and saying, “Oh, my God!”

“We could get into the rig whenever we wanted, and I was lucky enough to see the shark from up there. When I first saw him I was frozen with fear, then I screamed ‘big ass shark‘to the people on the bridge below,’ Albrecht told Newsweek.

“I had never seen one before, but a sailor had seen one from the air a few days before. We thought it was about 25 feet long, but [it] could easily have been a little longer. We saw him for probably less than five minutes before he walked away. “

The giant creature was a basking shark, animals that typically grow to 26 feet and 11,000 pounds.

Slow sharks, whose jaws can reach three feet wide, are filter feeders that devour plankton.

The students listed the sighting on a blog earlier this month as one of their favorite travel experiences.

“There were so many amazing moments to define this trip, but today there were two moments when the Corwith Cramer collective the tank was absolutely overflowing: two giant basking sharks swimming with us and whales sticking their tails out of the water to greet all those who have tried their hand at communicating with whales, ”the bloggers noted in the May 15 article.
