MANILA – Members of the Philippine Army’s 11th Infantry Division on Monday recovered high powered guns and a speedboat believed to belong to the Abu Sayyaf group in Indanan, Sulu.
“The operation resulted in the capture of a speedboat, one (1) M16 rifle attached with an M203 grenade launcher, several magazines and ammunition, a hand grenade, seven cell phones with SIM cards and several personal effects, âsaid the commander of the 11th Infantry Division. Major General William Gonzales in a statement.
The guns and the speedboat were recovered during an operation against a member of the Abu Sayyaf group in the area. The items were recovered following advice from a civilian, officials added.
Gonzales said the recovery of these weapons, along with the recent surrender of 17 ASG members, would put the bandit group at a disadvantage.
âOnce again, a kidnapping is foiled. This means no food and no ammunition for the ASG bandits. We take this opportunity; the Special Forces are in pursuit of them and the rest of the 1101st troops are on the lookout, âhe added.
