12th edition of the classic wooden sailboat rendezvous and race

Come see a spectacle of beautiful classic wooden sailing ships as they race along the mouth of the River Severn showcasing their history and the elegance of their design!

The race will take place on Sunday, September 12 at 11:00 a.m. on the Severn River at the entrance to Annapolis Harbor (*weather permitting). The course is a pursuit-style race, which means the slowest boats will start first, followed by the fastest, and the winner of each class will be determined by the time it takes them to complete the course.

Participating boats range in size from 8ft to 65ft and will be on display at the Eastport Yacht Club, Annapolis Waterfront Sailing Center and Annapolis Maritime Museum.

Great viewing spots can be found at the US Naval Academy Seawall (everyone over 16 must show valid photo ID; dogs are allowed on campus; public parking is available at town centre), Severn Sailing Association, Eastport Yacht Club (non-members are allowed on EYC docks but children under 15 must wear a life jacket; car park and clubhouse are for members only ), Horn Point Park in Eastport and of course, on the water.

If you are interested in participating in the race but do not own or have access to a classic wooden sailboat, the Schooner Woodwinds again invite you to participate aboard their boats which will race in the “Spirit of Tradition”. Ticket prices include a 3.5 hour cruise, packed lunch, soft drinks, bottled water and taxes. There will also be a cash bar which will include a selection of craft beers and wines.
